Matawhero Church: an historic church in the area of the massacre
of 54 people by Te Kooti on November 10th 1868. More information

The co-ordinates are for the information sign for the Matawhero
Church; the cache is about 15 metres along the fenceline in an
approx. SSW direction. The cache is outside the fenced property, so
there is no need to enter the church grounds to retrieve it. Please
take care in returning it so that it is well hidden.
The cache is a 400ml Sistema container. (Original contents: log
book, pencil, pencil sharpener, and 3 small trade-ables.)
Please people - don't open caches out in the pouring rain (open
them where it is dry), and don't put trinkets in the log book bag
(it can make the bag hard to close and let moisture in). -
