Geocache Description:

Penfold Park is a public park managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. This park is unique as it is located in the middle of the horse racing track, moreover, it hosted the 2008 Olympic equestrian events.

Enjoy a walk in Penfold Park. Located at the heart of the Famous Sha Tin Race Track. This is the epicenter of the Sport of Kings and run by one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is founded in 1884 to promote horse racing. It was granted Royal Charter and renamed to "The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club" in 1959. The name of the institution was reverted to its original name in 1996 due to the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong in 1997.

During race days, you will be hard pressed to get into the area. On non racing days, many owners and their pets can be seen relaxing in the park.
