Geocache Description:

A short uphill walk to an awesome view.

Maunganamu .... AKA Mosquito Mountain.

A beautifully formed rhyolite dome on the lake side of SH41 close to Tokaanu - 3km Northeast of Sunny Turangi. We have passed this wee hill so many times and kept saying we must find the track and climb it with cache in hand......three years later here it is for our fellow cachers to enjoy... the regrowth bush is beautiful and the view from the platform out across the river and the canals to the lake and beyond is stunning on a sunny day.



Access is via a gravel "road" on the north end of the bridge.....do remember to shut the gate to keep the locals horses in.

At the time of placement there had been considerable work done to clear the track and cyanide bait placed so please do not bring your dog. When you near the summit the track forks left to the viewing platform and right to the highest point.
