Pri tejto hranicnej keške sa budem teraz venovat trochu rieke Hornád. Je to piata najdlhšia slovenská rieka (celkovo 286 km, z toho na Slovensku 193 km). Pramení na úpätí Královej hole v nadmorskej výške cca 1050 metrov nad morom. Po case nadobúda charakter malej rieky a v oblasti Slovenského raja preteká snád svojim najkrajším úsekom - Prielomom Hornádu. Pri Krompachoch prechádza jedinou vodnou nádržou na jeho toku - Ružínom. Práve tu sa stáca na juh, smerom na Košice a pri obci Trstené pri Hornáde sa stáva hranicnou riekou. Svoje meno stráca spojením s riekou Slaná pri madarskej obci Ónod. Najvýznamnejšími prítokmi Hornádu na území Slovenska sú Hnilec a Torysa.

V hornej casti toku Hornád preteká ostrými a hlbokými korytami, avšak v jeho dolnom toku sú to plytké a široké korytá s pocetnými meandrami. Meander je odchýlka vodného toku od priameho smeru vo forme oblúka. Názov je odvodený z pomenovania rieky Maiandros v Turecku.

Pri zakladaní tejto kešky som si prešiel celý tok Hornádu (jeho pravostranný breh) od Trstenej pri Hornáde, až po miesto, kde Hornád opúšta územie Slovenska. Na mnohých miestach je priamy prístup ku rieke komplikovaný hustou vegetáciou. Práve v období jarného topenia snehu, ci jesenných daždov sa vody Hornádu vybrežujú a zalievajú jeho bezprostredné okolie. Neklamným znakom týchto vysokých stavov vody sú zbytky zväcša plastových odpadkov prichytených na okolitých stromoch.

Hornád je významným lovným kaprovým i pstruhovým revírom rýb. Pri návšteve hornádskych meandrov vás urcite zaujme i velké množstvo vtákov, oblubujúcich vodné toky. Sám som sa stretol s volavkou, kormoránom, kackou, prepelicou, ci bažantom.

Málokotoré miesto v okolí hornádskych meandrov je pohodlne prístupné priamo až k toku rieky. Nedaleko miesta uloženia kešky sú dva pohodlné vstupy priamo až ku vode. V case zakladania skrýše bolo cca 30 stupnov a tak vody Hornádu príjemne osviežili.

Majte sa však na pozore ! Nedaleko od miesta kešky pri vstupe ku rieke je oblúbené miesto miestnych rybárov ako i ludí, ktorí si tu, hlavne v lete, idú spravit piknik.

Ku keške sa dá dostat po ceste cca na 250 metrov (asfaltová cesta), nedaleko malej stavby slúžiacej k vodohospodárskym úcelom a potom už len zvyšok krížom cez lúku, kde sú už vychodené kolaje. Odbocky z hlavnej cesty 68 / E71 sú v obci Sena (popri polnohospodárskom družstve - waypoint ODB1 - spevnená cesta) alebo v obci Kechnec (takisto popri polnohospodárskom družstve - waypoint ODB2 - asfaltová cesta)

In this border cache I will pay attention little bit to river of Hornad. Hornad is the fifth longest slovak river (286 km in total, of which 193 km in Slovakia). Hornad´s source is on the foot of Kralova hola at an altitude of about 1,050 m above sea level. After some kilometers small river flows through the Slovak Paradise - perhaps its most beautiful section (Prielom Hornádu). In town Krompachy passes dam Ruzin. From this part Hornad turns to the south direction, to Kosice and in a village Trstene pri Hornade becomes the border river. After 90 km Hornad tribute to the Slana (Sajó) River near hungarian village Ónod. The most important tributaries of Hornad river in the territory of Slovakia are Hnilec and Torysa.

In the upper part of the flow of Hornád are sharp and deep stream beds, but in the lower stream are shallow and wide stream beds with numerous meanders. Meander is a deviation from a direct water flow direction in the form of an arc. The name is derived from the naming of the river Maiandros in Turkey.

When creating this cache I went the whole flow of Hornád (its right shore) from Trstena pri Hornáde, to the point where Hornád leaving the territory of Slovakia. In many places it is direct access to the river complicated dense vegetation. In a period of melting snow, or autumn rains, the water of Hornád go out from stream bed and its immediate surroundings. Unmistakable sign of these high water conditions are mostly plastic waste remains attached to the surrounding trees.

Hornád river are good condition for fishermen - especially for carps and trouts. When you visit meanders of Hornád you can see large number of birds like heron, cormorant, duck, quail, or pheasant.

Not many places around Hornád meanders are easily accessible directly to the flow of river. Near the location of the cache are two convenient inputs directly to the water. In the time of the establishment of cache was about 30 degrees and water of Hornádu pleasantly cooled.

Be carefull! Not far from the cache, at the entrance to the river, is a favorite place of local fishermen, and people to go here for picnic.

Cache is reachable by car for approximately 250 m (asphalt road), near the small building used for water purposes and then the rest across the meadow. Diversion of the main road 68 / E71 is in the municipality of Sena (in addition to agricultural cooperatives - waypoint ODB1 - hard way) or in the village of Kechnec (also along the agricultural cooperatives - waypoint ODB2 - asphalt road)
