Your starting point is a sculpture, entitled The Right
Light by
J.
Seward Johnson Jr.
Johnson is best known in this area for his giant sculpture
entitled
The Awakening which was situated for many years at
Haines Point in Washington, D.C., but is now at National Harbor in
Prince George's County, Maryland.
If you have ever traveled on Route 7, you may have seen this
sculpture but I'll bet you've never stopped to look at it up close.
It really is very lifelike, with lots of little details. His use of
trompe l'oeil paint on bronze is very effective although it
seems to have weathered quite a bit since its installation.
If you are a waymarker, one of our local geocachers,
buglady1, has created a
waymark for this location already!
