Geocache Description:

What to call this cache?

It was a beautiful Saturday. The first day of August. We had been planning the trip to the Regina area for several months to meet up with some relatives and camp. We had reservations at to different campground as well as a hotel in Medicine Hat for the first night. We packed the van and trailer all morning with hopes to leave in the early afternoon to make it to Medicine Hat in time for dinner and some evening caching. We pulled out of our house at about 3:00 PM. We still had hopes to reach the Hat for dinner and caching!

The drive was going well. The kids were watching movies on the DVD player and Mrs. Sears Tower and I were chatting away as we drove past Strathmore. We continued past Strathmore for almost 18 kilometers when all of a sudden the van didn't sound right. I quickly pulled over when I realized the van's engine was racing, but it was not going any faster!

As I got out, I could smell the aroma of burnt transmission fluid! Fluid was all over the inside of the engine as well as stretching all the way back to the safety chains of the trailer! We were done. Going no further and needing a way to get back to Calgary.

To top it of, it was probably the nicest (warmest) day of the year and there was no shade in site! We called AMA and they dispatched a truck. We also called a friend to tow our trailer back home.

As we sat around waiting in the blazing sun, what else do you have to do except hide a cache! We had several containers with us since we planned on hiding a few while in Saskatchewan. I had even arranged for some local Saskatchewan cachers to look after them and spoke with the two provincial parks to get permission! After a short search, we found a location to hide an ammo can.

Now, what to call the cache? Regina Trip Breakdown? (This is what the log book says) Our Most Expensive Cache? or Regina or Bust? (This is what Mrs. Sears Tower wanted)

After a long trip home, our good friends that came to pick up our trailer also invited us over for dinner!

What happen to the van you asked? Anyone want a 1999 Honda Odyssey for a good price? It requires a lot of transmission work!

To make this cache a little fun and a the experience a little less painful for me, I would like to ask all loggers to write in their log about an experience they have had either with their vehicle or about a trip in general that was not so pleasant. This is not a requirement for logging the cache, but it will be fun to read about everyone else's experiences!
