When I first saw this bridge, I thought "WOW!!! What an ancient
beauty!!" Couldn't believe no one had placed a historic-centered
cache around it. So I grabbed it, even though I wasn't actually
planning on hiding any today, just finding. With no real info to
write about it, I just decided to add to the top of the log the
date which it was built, then research the bridge at home, &
replace the temporary cache with a proper one later....with all the
neat historic info included.
I saw the plate that I need on the bridge immediately, so went
to see which decade it was built in....uuh, 2004. :( :( Well, hey,
it LOOKS old & rusty. But when you inspect it closer, you can
tell that it's a VERY recent & extremely well built bridge.
However, the road was definitely here much longer than that, so
that means there was definitely an older bridge here at one time.
Or maybe not....with my luck, I'll find out after researching this
that it was just a low-water gravel crossing or an old steel
pipe.
Oh well. It'll make a quick smiley for you anyway, on a less
traveled road, so no need to wear your invisibility suit &
throw a bunch of limbs over your vehicle to hide it too. And it
might even turn out that there WAS a historic bridge here before
2004. If so, then I'll tell you about it & try to round up a
picture or two of the old one also.
If nothing turns up....well, hey, it's still neat looking NEW
bridge....and a smiley for ya too. I haven't heard anyone gripe
about getting one of those yet. :) :)
Contains nothing but a log.
