Very long hike but not dificult terrain (from West to South)
This is cache # 9, planted by the Shulems on their 29 day, 450 Km, trek starting in Tel Dan and ending at the Kotel. Each day, we hid 1 cache for the benefit of future Israel Trail hikers. Naturally, some of the caches are accessible by non 'Israel Trailers' while others are 4 hours of waking from the nearest road. This cache is named after Ahiya, a fellow ‘Israel Trail’ hiker, who joined me for the 28 KM long hike of the day.
This cache is located on the trail leading from the South tip of the Kineret (Yardenit) all the way to Mount Tavor. It is a beautiful trail but also extremely long. The cache is located not far from the amazing ‘Ein Olam’ spring. If you make it to the spring, do not forget to jump in to the water within the building. You will know what I am talking about when you get there. While walking on this path, you can easily forget you are in Israel. You could just as well be in any other place on earth. Basically you will not see any human habitat for almost 15 KM of waking and as far as the eye can see!
The path going from West to East is much easier that from East to West. The first is suitable for kids although almost 12 KM long. The second has a very steep climb and should be taken with plenty of water.
The cache is located in the core of an old olive tree. As you walk down the trail you will see 3 large Olive trees around you. If you look to the south, you can see another olive tree about 30 meters away. If you then turn to the west, you will be able to see the Tabor Mountain in the distance.
The cache is packed with fun stuff so please keep it interesting for the cachers yet to come.
Enjoy
Yarive, & Ahiya.
