Geocache Description:

located adjacent to the grounds of Gulval Church, Gulval, near Penzance

The church is dedicated to St Gudwal and was built from local stone. The tower over 60ft high built of Lugvan Stone.

The church was consecrated on July 10th 1336there was a church on the site prior to this.

Notable feature of the porch is that it is built in the shape of a horse shoe

On the way to Gulval from Penzance there is a granite hoarse trough on it is a reminder that little Simon Bolitho passed this way. He lived five years in the 20th century and in this way is kindly remembered. There is a marble monument to him in the church a child's head enfolded wings with the words "God Himself His Soul will Keep".

And as a final note we got married there on 3/4/93 so its a special place to us and an appropriate place to hide our first cache after living, working and holidaying in this beautiful land that we fell in love with, and return to numerous times per year to visit family and friends (and now to geocache)

Have a good look around the perimeter of the church grounds and you will discover the stairway to heaven - Enjoy - Happy hunting

The cache is a small container which when originally hidden contained a FTF Good Luck Button, a local Keyring, logroll, and pencil.
