It is one of my favourite places to go and ‘get away’ from everyday life! It is a very quiet and peaceful part of the Lake District, where the mountains meet the sea. You can get to Silecroft by car, following signs to Whitehaven and Millom if coming from Barrow-in-Furness, or if you prefer, a train service runs up the west coast of Cumbria to Carlisle, and Silecroft is a request stop on this line.
It is a great place for walkers, with the Cumbrian Coastal Way, Black Combe and the Whicham Valley all within easy reach.
It’s a great place for sea fishing, and kite flying.
Best of all – it’s a fantastic place to go horse riding – miles and miles of beach for a good gallop!
Silecroft has a great trekking centre which takes regular beach rides out (dependant on the tide), a couple of nice B+Bs, and a lovely, cosy village pub with great food.
Hope you have a nice time exploring the area!
