Geocache Description:

First cache to be hidden on the island of Whalsay. Situated near to the road.

Whalsay is an island dependent on fishing and the large trawlers may be seen tied up in the harbour. The island is also known as the Bonnie Isle. Near the harbour there is a preserved Hanseatic Trading booth from the times when fish was traded for imported goods from Europe.

The cache is hidden at the back of a plantiecrub on the road to Skaw, location of Britain's most northerly golf course. A plantiecrub is a walled, round structure once used for growing kale plants away from the house - but safe from rabbits!
