Smuggler's Chest Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Long Man: I have made two requests for this cache to be maintained and the listing is still disabled. I feel the owner has had sufficient time to carry out the required maintenance, but has failed to do so.

Because of this I'm archiving the cache.

Geocache Description:

SHORT DESCRIPTION: A traditional cache; #2 of a walk along the coast of Broadstairs, loosely following part of the Viking Trail. You are looking for a small container. Wheelchair users please read encrypted note.

LONG DESCRIPTION:
This is #2 of a set of caches placed along the coast of Broadstairs, loosely following part of the Viking Cycle Trail. (visit link) You are on a cliff top, over Stone Bay; an area infamous for the antics of smugglers. Much use was made of the bays and secret tunnels to evade the payment of tax or to bring contraband goods into the country. Please be careful around these cliffs as there is a high chance of rockfall due to heavy erosion. Wheelchair users please read encrypted note.

To the North is “No Fencing”, #1 in the series; as well as a fantastic cache near the beach called “The ‘39’ steps” by pjholland. (Only available at low tide.) (visit link) To the South of the cache location is #3 in the series - “Smuggler’s Lair”. Continue walking South and you come to Viking Bay, and the main tourist area of Broadstairs.

But what of the cache here? It is magnetic and only has space for the log. Please bring your own pencil. Sorry – no room for a FTF award, just the warm glow and respect of solving the problem first!

PLEASE TRY TO MAKE SURE THE MAGNET IS COMPLETELY FLAT AGAINST THE OBJECT when replacing, as it is not particularly strong and we need to avoid the ingress of water.
