The River Great Ouse flows from its source near Brackley to the sea at King's Lynn, running through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Work is in progress on the Ouse Valley Way to open a network of footpaths along this magnificent river from 'source to sea' - making this route one of the longest river valley walks in Britain. The first section of the Ouse Valley Way walk opened in 1990 in the district of Huntingdonshire, and the whole route was formally opened in May 2004.
Mile Marker # 137 is one of a series of caches along this official Long Distance Footpath. The idea is to encourage more people to explore the walking equivalent of motorways, "speeding" the walker from start to finish (in this case from Syresham near Brackley to Kings Lynn). However, the entire walk can be broken down into day walks using public transport.
My section of the walk can be started at either Kings Lynn or Downham Market and you can return to your starting point via the regular train between the two points.
Or for a shorter walk you can split it between here and #136, using the train at Watlington a short walk away, as its half way bewtween Kings Lynn and Downham Market.

Wear sensible footwear as it can be muddy. Do not attempt if the river is at risk of flooding.
