Decimal Currency Day - Version 2 Traditional Cache
Sol de lune: Alas, it's gone. Run over by a bulldozer I'd say. Lots of brokens bit and pieces lying on the ground.
Know for sure as I found a Dollar and a 20 cent piece.....covered in glue.....so they are off the lid.
As it's the second time I've replaced/change locations for this one, it's time to say goodbye.
Hope those who found it enjoyed it.

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Please Note: This is the same cache as I had placed at another location. Due to road works and a deterioration of the old GZ, I decided to relocate it to this GZ. After consultation with the reviewer, it was also decided that another cache listing, not just a change in co-ords was required.
So the good news is, you get to claim another find.

Decimal Currency Day - In Come the Dollars, In Come the Cents
The day Decimal Currency came into our lives.
"In come the dollars, in come the cents,
to replace the pounds and shillings and the pence.
Be prepared for changes when the coins begin to mix,
on the 14th of February 1966."
Now, if you can remember that little jingle, you're about as old as I am.
Scary to think that the little ditty, sung to the tune of ‘Click Go the Shears’ was first aired about 43 years ago.
I was in 4th class at primary school and can remember our teacher showing us the new coins. My favourite at the time was the 2cent piece. I thought the (Frilled) Lizard was cool looking. And you could buy a bag of lollies with it!!
Did you know that the name ‘Dollar’ was chosen ahead of the ‘Royal’ and the ‘Merino’. Can you imagine the conversation in Myer or David Jones today...
Customer......”Excuse me, how much is this woollen jumper”
Shop assistant.......“That would be 59 Merinos madam”.
Not quite the same is it??????

The cache is a simple traditional. You will need to get down low to grab it, and please, please, ensure it is covered when you leave. Not too many muggles would venture here I guess, but as the cache is worth at least $3.88, I don't want to lose it.
Why was Decimal Currency introduced on Valentines Day??
I'm not sure, maybe the folk making the decisions at the time were all romantic's!!!!!! Or maybe, shock, horror, Valentines day wasn't such a big thing in 1966.
In your online log, let us know which coin is your favourite.
