Geocache Description:

This cache is a tribute to my spouse's drive to excel at geocaching. The cache is located in busy area with limited parking. Avoid restricted parking areas and watch out for muggles.

This cache is a tribute to my spouse's drive to excel at geocaching. Even after she broke her ankle while going for a cache on flat ground she wouldn't give up. I said (with force and a bit of frustration), "Why don't you just stop for while!?" but nooooo, she wouldn't. Her desire to reach her 500th cache within five months of starting was just too strong.

Here's the full story...

I was out of town on a Friday afternoon at a board meeting when I recieved a text message. "I fell today."

Now, I'm not one normally to worry, but my wife almost never bother's me while I'm working with trivial issues like bruising her butt. This seemingly simple message bothered me. It was just too simple.

I texted back, "What do you mean, 'I fell'?"

Her reply, "I think I sprained my ankle."

The meeting was nearly over so I held off my concern until I left the meeting and headed for my car. Then I called. She said, "Oh, it's alright. I just think I sprained it. I have it on ice."

I was due to spend the weekend in a remote area away from my wife. My choices: cancel my visit with my 89 year-old mother and suffer from a guilty conscience to see if my wife was okay, or continue out of town and hope my wife knew what she was talking about.

I kept going.

On Sunday, when I arrived home, it was clear to me that a visit to the orthopedic specialist was in order. Monday morning the ankle was cast!

A week later I was pushing my wife around Washington D.C. in a wheelchair while attending a conference and, of course, geocaching!

Two weeks later she had a walking cast and we were on our way to the mountains for a little R&R, but not before we had marked the way with, you guessed it, more geocaches! She walked on crutches to get caches from Phoenix to Yosemite!

Sometimes I would just like her to STOP!

New Note: As of November 2016 she is now in the 30,000 Finds Club . I guess my efforts to get her to stop haven't worked. Note: The cache is adjacent to a high traffic area close to a university neighborhood. Parking on side streets is limited, strictly enforced, and requires a residential permit from 7am to 5pm week days. The cache is not big enough for anything but a log. Bring tweezers, you'll need them.

Congratulations to tugies for FTF
Grandmabetsy made her 500th find at the ghostbike of a young family friend on the east side. She cried.
