Geocache Description:

Welcome to Beulah, Mississippi. The town is now located on plantation land owned by Colonel Frank A. Montgomery. Situated on the Mississippi river, where river boats landed, loaded and unloaded, eventually springing up a settlement bringing General Clark to the area where he lived. He was visited often by Mark Twain while writing "Life on the Mississippi". Rich in history, some of the decendants of the original settlers still live in the area.

This cache is part of the 2009 Geocaching Event. You will need a Contest Entry Form to participate. If you don't have a form, there are some in the cache or you can download from the website.

The “National Great River Road 2009 Geocaching Event” will feature a series of geocaches located throughout each of the ten Mississippi River States. Each of the caches will be historically themed. Contests, prizes and other fun activities will appeal to geocachers of all ages and levels of geocaching experience.

White signs with a green steamboat pilot’s wheel painted on them mark the 2,000-mile Great River Road route, running from the Mississippi’s source in northern Minnesota to its terminus at the Gulf of Mexico. Driving the whole route takes 10 to 14 days. For shorter trips, it helps to envision the route in three major sections: Minnesota to the Quad Cities (that’s the Davenport, Iowa, and Moline, Ill., area), the Quad Cities to Memphis, and Memphis to New Orleans. Food and lodging are plentiful along the entire route.

Mississippi is the birthplace of the Blues and home to world-class resorts, Southern cuisine, legendary landmarks, renowned artists and writers, and exciting outdoor adventure. Whether it's our 26 miles of beaches, the music of the Delta, the richness of history, or the nightlife, Mississippi has something for everyone. Mississippi offers an incredible Southern experience that leaves people wishing for one more day in their travel plans!
