Geocache Description:

Blair County, PA continually surprises me with its wealth of history. From the war memorials to the heritage of the railroad, Blair County is rich in history. This becomes evident at this location; that was not only the location of the Peterson Memorial Airfield (Tyrone Airport) in the 1940's and '50's, but also the Altoona Area Speedway in the pre-Depression 1920's!

Please note that this location is now the site of Ardie J. Dillen Industrial Park and is the home of various manufacturing and distribution companies. I know the management at a few of these businesses. Please respect private property and do not approach these businesses or trespass onto their property. This cache is located at the end of the still existing runway.
During the workweek there may be some muggle activity, as one of the businesses here promotes "walk during your lunch break" as part of their employee wellness program.
