Al Augustine Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wood_Rat: Well, it’s finally come to the point where I cannot physically maintain my caches in a timely manner. I am unable to get out of the house since mid-July due to medical reasons and things won’t be changing anytime soon.

So, I am going to archive my caches and make these spots available.

If you are going to adopt a location, please send me a note and I’ll give you spoilers so that you can remove my old container. I just cannot physically do it any longer.

Thanks for Hunting!

Geocache Description:

All Milpitas parks are open from dawn until 10:00pm

Albert Augustine Park is a 6-acre open access park with plenty of open space, plus play equipment, 4 barbecue pits, and 9 tables, in the Sunny Hills neighborhood of Milpitas. Sunnyhills is one of the first successful racially integrated neighborhoods in the United States. It was built to house the blue-collar workers at the local Ford Motor plant (now known as the Great Mall of Milpitas). Minority civic leaders Ben Gross, Oliver Jones, and Al Augustine, played a major role in the development of Sunnyhills and both Jones and Augustine now have local parks named in their honor. The ratio of residents to parkland in Milpitas is one of the highest in the San Francisco Bay area. The Milpitas Alliance for the Arts, founded in 1997, promotes and funds many forms of art, and the "Art in Your Park" project has put many sculptures into local Milpitas parks, including the sundial in Augustine Park. The original cache was dislodged from its hidding place and scattered about the park. So I have built a new container and relocated the cache to the northwest.

The cache is "hidden in plain sight" and in full view of the playground equipment -- but it is not in the playground equipment. The cache can be seen, retrieved, and replaced without climbing through any bushes or jumping any fences. This park is very popular and so stealth will be required.

Congratulations to csolsen for FTF!
