Geocache Description:

Camo'ed micro with log only. Bring pen. Watch for potential muggles.

Note: Zoo-1, -2, -3, -4 are all accessible 24/7 outside the Zoo. None are accessible from within the Zoo's visitor areas.

Parking is in the big lots at the northern end of the Zoo. "Zoo Circle Drive" on maps is totally bogus. That road is within the Zoo's fence and is strictly for employees and vendors. Take Hermann Park Drive to get to the visitor parking areas.

From a loose collection of assorted small and medium sized animals--rabbits, raccoons, Mexican eagles, black bear, great horned owl, capuchin monkeys, prairie dogs--in 1905 in Sam Houston Park close to downtown Houston, to a world-class Zoo located in an area of Hermann Park with an employee staff of over 300 people and over 600 volunteers supporting over 6,000 animals, the Zoo continues to expand within its 55-acre area to include financial, materiel, and manpower support and participation in regional and international conservation efforts.

The first phase of African Forest has opened with Chimpanzees (first since 1970's), Rhinoceros, Greater Kudu, Masai Giraffe, and Ostrich.
