CASTELL DE LLÍVIA
Llívia és una vila i municipi de la Cerdanya. Administrativament pertany a la comarca de la Baixa Cerdanya, a Catalunya. Té la particularitat de trobar-se completament envoltada per l'actual territori francès (Catalunya del Nord) formant un enclavament.
El municipi està integrat, a més de Llívia, pels pobles de Gorguja i de Cereja, el caseriu de Gorguja Petita –mas de Travis– i el mas Jonquer. A més, s’hi troba l’església de Sant Guillem de la Prada.
El castell de Llívia es trobava a la part superior del Puig del Castell, als peus del qual es va erigir la moderna Llívia. Si bé el castell va ser destruït pel rei francès Lluís XI, se’n conserven algunes restes. La datació de les restes visibles podria ser del segle XII, com a més probable.
El castell es caracteritza per ser un recinte sobirà o senyorial format, aparentment, per una torre mestra rectangular amb quatre torretes circulars -una a cada vèrtex- i un clos o recinte jussà -on hi havia la població-, que el tanca. A l'interior del primer, hi havia una cisterna coberta amb volta de canó, que encara es conserva.
Recentment s’hi han fet algunes importants prospeccions arqueològiques. A fi de pujar el material de prospecció al castell i vist el mal estat en què es trobava el camí d’accés, s’emprà un globus aerostàtic.
Podeu deixar el cotxe a l’aparcament de l’església de Llívia i agafar la pista que s’enfila des d’allà cap al castell. Un cop visitat el recinte de les excavacions, ja podeu anar a buscar el cache.

LLÍVIA CASTLE
We suggest you to start with a nice walk around the village of Llívia, and end the visit discovering this cache.
Llívia is a town of Cerdanya region. Administratively belongs to Baixa Cerdanya in Catalonia. It has the particularity to be completely surrounded by French territory (Northern Catalonia), forming an enclave.
The council is composed, besides Llivia, by the villages of Gorguja and Cereja, the hamlet of Gorguja Petita – mas de Travis- and mas Jonquer. In addition, there is the church of Sant Guillem de la Prada.
Llívia Castle was at the top of Puig del Castell (Castle Hill), at the foot of which was erected modern Llívia. Although French King Louis XI destroyed the castle, there are still some remains. The dating of the visible remains may be from the twelfth century, as more likely.
The castle is characterized as a sovereign or noble enclosure, composed by a master rectangular tower with four turrets, one for each vertex, and an enclosure where people lived. Inside the first, there was a tank covered with a barrel vault, which still exists.
Some important archaeological prospecting has recently been done. Due to the poor state of the access road, it had to be used a hot air balloon to take the prospecting material to the castle.
You can leave the car in the car park of Llivia’s church and take the path that leads you to the castle. Once you visit the castle archaeological prospecting, you can already go for the cache.
