Kolonialism är staters eller gruppers erövring och behärskande av främmande territorier. Det kan även involvera exploatering samt införande av den egna kulturen eller civilisationen.
De flesta europeiska länder har haft kolonier. Även Sverige, som har haft kolonier i Saint-Barthélemy i Västindien, vid Delawarefloden i Nordamerika och vid Cabo Corso i nuvarande Ghana.
Även i våra dagar kan man hitta småskaliga exempel på kolonalism, vilket syns tydligt i dessa trakter.

Colonialism is the building and maintaining of colonies in one territory by people from another territory. Social structure, government and economics within the territory of the colony are changed by the colonists.
Colonialism normally refers to a period of history from the 15th to the 20th century when people from Europe built colonies on other continents
Most European countries have had colonies. Even Sweden, who has had colonies in Saint-Barthélemy in the West Indies, by the Delaware River in North America and at Cabo Corso in present Ghana.
You can still find small-scale examples of colonialism today, which is obvious in this place.
