Geocache Description:

30 cal ammo can located on the LongLeaf Trace

Welcome to the Long Leaf Trace. This is a Rails For Trails project
that converted an old railroad track from Hattiesburg, MS to
Prentiss MS. It is 41 miles long, and has several caches along this route.


Trace Map


This cache is located near Epley Station. Parking is available at the station. After that it is about 1/4 of a mile hike. Originally I was going to name this cache "To Hike or not to Hike". But then I saw this butterfly on a flower. It couldn't fly because of the rain. The rain allowed me a great opportunity for a picture.

The trail is Equestrian friendly, and available to bicycles as
well as hikers. There are multiple "stations" which provide a place
to get water or drinks and a bathroom that is available to the
public. There are several camping places as well for those wishing
to hike part or all of the Trace.
