Past and present
The "Schapengracht" is a fen with a long stretched unique shape. Research has shown that the fen was originally a glacial meltwater channel from the last ice age, and more than 10,000 years old. The fen has a exceptionaly high nature value, because that the water in it makes contact with the groundwater . As a result, there are special plant species grown. Measures are taking to the bank vegetation to recover it. By these measures, the original flora and fauna gets a change to develop. One of these measures is to cut the trees on the bankzone.
Questions
Which unique plant species can grow here because of the measures?
What happens to the water by the measure to cut down the trees at the bankzone?
After the iceage the ice melted and becomes groundwater, what has happend to this groundwater over the ages?
Assignement
We would appreciate it if you will get a picture of yourself with the GPSr and (a part of) the fen in the background. The choice to upload a picture is free. Earth Caches were previously managed on earthcache.org, and at that time a picture was necessary to log an earthcache. Today, as part of geocaching.com this is optional, but we would like it.
Only logs from which we have recevied an e-mail with the correct answers (write an e-mail via de profile page) are valid. All logs without a recevied e-mail will be deleted!

Geschiedenis en huidige situatie
De schapengracht is een ven met een bijzondere langgerekte vorm. Uit onderzoek is gebleken dat het ven oorspronkelijk een smeltwatergeul uit de laatste ijstijd is en meer dan 10.000 jaar oud is. Het ven heeft een bijzonder hoge natuurwaarde doordat het venwater in contact staat met het grondwater uit de ondergrond. Daardoor kunnen er bijzondere plantensoorten groeien. Bij dit oude vennetje worden maatregelen genomen om de oevervegetatie te herstellen. Door de maatregelen krijgt de oorspronkelijke flora en fauna ruimte om zich te ontwikkelen. Een maatregel is onder andere het kappen van de bomen op de oeverzone.

Welke bijzondere plant kan door de maatregelen hier weer groeien?
Wat is het gevolg van de maatregel om het kappen van de bomen op de oever op het water?
Na de ijstijd is er iets met het grondwater gebeurd, wat nu belangrijk is voor de vegatatie, wat is het grondwater geworden?
Opdracht
Wij zouden het op prijs stellen als je/jullie een foto maken van jezelf met de GPSr en op de achtergrond (een deel van) het ven. De keuze staat vrij deze wel of niet bij de log te plaatsen. Earthcaches werden vroeger beheerd op earthcache.org, en destijds was het plaatsen van een foto verplicht om te mogen loggen. Tegenwoordig, als onderdeel van geocaching.com is dit optioneel, maar wij zouden het wel leuk vinden.
Alleen logs waarvan een juist antwoord is ontvangen (schrijf een bericht via de profielpagina) zijn geldig. Alle logs waarvan geen antwoord is ontvangen worden, zonder waarschuwing vooraf, verwijderd!
