Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed for the 'Introduction to Geocaching' walk that we are leading as part of the 'Mendip Hills Walking Festival' on Sunday 6th September 2009.

This one is a very simple find for the experienced cacher.

Dolebury Warren is owned by the National Trust and managed by Avon Wildlife Trust. It is a SSSI with a Iron Age hill fort (scheduled monument) at the western end.

We saw lots of butterflies whilst out exploring the area in early August. Even though late May to August is the best time to see wildflowers and butterflies, there are spectacular views at any time of year.
Also, keep an eye out for green woodpeckers that are frequently seen flying close to the ground with their characteristic undulating flight.

Thank you to both the National Trust and Avon Wildlife Trust
for granting permission to place this cache.

Parking
