The cache is the home of a wooden monkey travel bug who is making
his way around the world swinging from cache to cache.
Parking is easiest at N 51° 04.215 W 003° 13.863. There is space
for a car here without blocking access to the fields. If you can't
stop here, then there are a couple more spaces at the top of the
hill on the main road. (I strongly recommend you start from
the parking location as dropping down from the top can be very
difficult)
Follow the path until you get as close as you can to the cache,
then make your way through the woods. The cache is a cylindrical
black painted click lock box painted with a monkey face. The box
contains a log, pencil and a range of goodies. The approach will be
very difficult from any other direction than the parking location
path.
I have included a spoiler picture as GPS coverage is very poor
under the trees. I will verify the co-ordinates in the winter when
I can get a better fix through the branches
Further exploration reveals some other surprises in these
woods.
If you decide to explore these woods further, please be aware of
sudden drops and cliff edges!!!
A surprisingly well preserved Lime Kiln can be found at N 51°
04.005 W 003° 13.542. The opening at the top is fenced, but you can
get a good view in from the bottom.
Quarry N51° 04.005 W 003° 13.587. This is quite pretty with the
hanging ivy and reminds me of some pre-historic area - all that is
missing is the dinosaurs. There is a very old car in the quarry.
Can anyone identify it?
