Gamba Mission Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, hefalumps, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

Mission grass (Pennisetum polystachion) and gamba grass (Andropogan gayanus) were introduced to the Northern Territory as experimental pasture for the cattle industry. They share many similarities, including their African origin, prolific seed production and ability to colonise non pastoral land. Both grasses have thrived in the tropical environment of Northern Australia and are a major fire hazard in the dry season.

This demo site brings to the attention the problems caused by Gamba and Mission Grass in rural areas and the efforts to control and prevent its growth. This should be an easy drive-by cache.
