Located at Libby Hill Trails on the Outback trail, this medium sized cache is a 2 lb screw top plastic container with camouflaged tape.
The Outback Trail is the most remote in the Libby Hill Trail System (www.libbyhill.org). It is a favorite of mountain bikers and snowshoers because of its crazy elevation changes. You may also see deer, porcupines, bobcat, coyotes, or moose on this trail. You will feel like you are in the North Maine woods because of the wildness of this area. On top of that it borders Thayer Brook which has some very active beaver engineering. You will see new marshes created from years of beaver activity here. If you got a bit further down the trail you’ll also find porcupine rock where if you look carefully you will see porcupine scat under the rocks. Access the trail system by parking at trail system N 43 54.125 / W 070 21.223. Walk behind school to get to the Moose Odyssey Trail Kiosk where you can borrow a trail map if needed. Do not bushwhack to this geocache unless you want to wade through lots of bog and marsh. Use the Moose Odyssey – Harold Libbey – Outback trails to get to this cache. Early finders will have some cool prizes including a multicard reader for a computer (still in brand new packaging), USB wireless card, and other stuff. Be sure to visit the other 5 geocaches on Libby Hill and make it a great geocache day! Accessible in winter but please avoid groomed ski trails except where allowed during a short section near the parking lot.
