Bluesky - Shuswap Lake Provincial Park

This cache promotes active living and environmentally friendly geocaching. In order to place this cache, we parked (depending on where you are coming from, the park is accessable by foot or bike) at the Nature House and walked the self guiding Nature Trail to find the proper home for this cache. You can access the cache by traveling in either direction. Cross country travel is not required or encouraged. Unfortunately bikes are not permitted on this one trail for environmental reasons. However, if you have arrived by bike, which is feasible, you can park it at the Nature House , walk the trail, find the cache, return to your bike and continue on biking the many other bike friendly trails. During your walk you will come upon a Kekuli Pit (actual site of an Indian winter home) situated just west of the Nature House. This pit itself dates back 1,000 years, with the structure having been rebuilt by BC Parks personnel. This cache is hidden in a BC Park. BC Parks supports geocaching! Here - www.bcgeocaching.com/pdf/BC_Parks_Geocaching_Policy.pdf - is a link to the BC Parks geocaching policies, please familiarize yourself with them. Through cooperation with BC Parks, we can keep geocaching a fun and supported activity in BC's Provincial Parks]

Shuswap Lake Provincial Park was established in 1956 and is a very popular destination. The park has 1km of sandy beach and is 149 hectares (368 acres) in size, which includes all of Copper Island located 2km offshore. There is a grassy play area, beautiful picnic tables, a playground, self guiding nature trails and a boat launch. There is also a 2.8km hiking trail on Copper Island. The well maintained campground has 272 vehicle campsites, showers and flush toilets.

In these caches, you'll find some ProjectBlueSky geocoins for the first finders. Please only take one... if you have one from another cache, please leave them for other people. There are also some other pins and swag from BC Parks, BCGA and Project Blue Sky.
