Geocache Description:

Placement is near the summit of Anderson Peak- elevation 8683 feet. There is a long but rewarding hike and some rock scrambling involved.

The cache is an old plastic coffee can nestled within all the rocks on top of Anderson Peak. Inside is a log book and pencil and various trinkets. The cache is not too hard to find once you have reached the summit. This requires about a 13 mile round trip hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. I started on the PCT at the Sugar Bowl trailhead off the Norden Highway. The hike is not too difficult but the last quarter mile or so to the summit requires rock scrambling. The view from the 8683 foot summit allows you to see Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and just about everything else. You may also notice a metal box on top of the peak. This is a peak bagger log for people to note their summit experience. Do not confuse this for the cache. As always, take the necessary precautions when hiking to a destination like this. Take a lunch and plenty of water. Watch the weather and bring proper clothing.
Happy Hunting.
