Gus' Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

estrek: Due to the recent signage, we regretfully need to archive our first hidden cache. Sadly, it was in memory of our beloved Rottweiler, Gus.

We reread all of your logs dating back to 8/23/2009. They were touching.
We were reminded that the FTF cacher walked his own Rottweiler, Roxy, along this trail daily! Wonderful.

Driving to our cache to verify it did need to be archived - a car passed in front of us on that cold day. A Rottweiler stuck his head out of the car side window!!! I got teared up thinking about Gus and how this was such an unexpected sendoff for “Gus’ Cache”.

We appreciate your respects, and relating to us about your beloved dogs that you have lost yet continue to love to this day. And to those of you who shared your joy of caching along with your dog.

One cacher wrote: “I am happy to pay my respects to Gus, we all have those we have lost and geocaching is a way to sharour love with the rest of the world. Thanks for keeping the memory of Gus alive, and for all the help along the way“.

Our thanks to all of you.

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed on the 12th anniversary of the passing of Gus, our hiking companion, and the sweetest Rottweiler you would ever meet.

The housing development didn't exist during the time we walked this area with Gus. New to Colorado, we were staying in the nearby RV park for a spell after traveling around the country. We sure wish geocaching existed then!

Cache is off a level paved trail. Please replace as found. Bring pen, & mosquito repellent may be needed. Happy caching!!!

***Congratulations to OneKindWord for the FTF!***
