We placed 4 caches in the Bafflin Nature Sanctuary, and archived an earlier cache. The Bafflin Nature Sanctuary consists of 700 acres with over 8 miles of woodland trails. The Air Line Rail Trail passes through the northwest portion of the sanctuary. There is a nature center with loads of information and exhibits that you can visit, more information can be viewed at this link. We have included a trail map that you can view, the caches are all on the CT Audubon Trail, and you can do a loop by walking up to the Air Line Trail and back on the Audubon trail.
We did encounter some prickers while walking through the meadows, and a couple of soggy spots too. We suggest long pants and something stronger than jogging sneakers. Some of the trails could be difficult with snow on the ground. By all means come prepared with binoculars, you may see many interesting birds and other wildlife. The terrain difficulty rating factors in the rather steep climb up to the Air Line Trail.
Parking is available at the Connecticut Audubon Society.
