Geocache Description:

WWFM-VI Murphysboro Wacky Hat Flash Mob 2

Winner of FTF honors goes to mtoenisk!! We want to thank everyone for attending!!
The World Wide Flash Mob Caching Event.

WWFM VI

November 14, 2009

S.I.G.N.’s “Wacky Hat Bash”

The Basic Idea...

A "Flash Mob" Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present to receive and drop off your log sheet with geocaching name, where from, and the number attending DURING this time to claim the event.

Please BYOP! (Bring your own Pen) Due to the short amount of time available, borrowing from another participant may result in not being entered for the drawings.

The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen around the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.

The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

The event will begin precisely at 04:00 pm on November 14, 2009. The event will be held at the Smysor Plaza, in downtown Murphysboro Illinois. This is in an open public space with lots of parking nearby. The theme for this flash mob event is “Wacky Hats” Participants are strongly encouraged (but not required) to come wearing “fun” hats, the wackier the better!

The Plan...

At exactly 04:00 pm A S.I.G.N. representative will enter the plaza and drop the official “Log Bucket.” At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of nowhere wearing their wacky hats. Log sheets will be handed out which must quickly be filled out and returned to the “Log Bucket.” This will be followed by drawings including FTF, a sweet snack, the group photo, all before disbanding at 4:15 exactly with everybody headed their different directions.

Basic Idea...

3:45 - 3:59

Participants: Mill about be nonchalant and casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Wonder around as realistically as you can keeping your wacky hats out of sight until converging on ground zero. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of no-where... Stay in your geocaching mobile if need be.

04:00

The S.I.G.N. Representative will walk to ground zero and place the official log bucket. This is the signal that the event has begun!
Please do not be in this area until this time.

04:00 - 04:07

Event log sheets will be handed out to be quickly completed and returned. Something sweet to eat will also be handed out... Make sure to CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) all garbage. Mingle and meet others.

04:08

Prize Raffle Drawing - including FTF honors. You must have you log turned in to be entered. Other prizes will be awarded.

04:12
A group picture will be taken wearing our “Wacky Hats”

04:14

Prep to leave, but don't "look" like you are prepping. (You might want to "secretly" organize where you will re-form after dispersal.)

04:15 EXACTLY

LEAVE the area (right at 04:15 in a disorderly manner / different directions) and meet elsewhere if desired.
Only those participants whose names appear on papers placed into collection box may log the event.

Tell your friends and help promote the event!

Hopefully there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)

****** Plans for a social gathering afterward to continue meeting and greeting are in the works for after this event, but it is not an official part of the event. Interested in learning more about S.I.G.N. this may be a great opportunity to do just that!
