Millions School was built for $625 in 1902. Teacher's salary was $35/month and school taxes were 4 cents/acre. Teacher salary was raised to $50/month in 1904. In the 1930's, the salary was dropped to $20/month with $15/month going to room and board. The rest was paid by promissary note. In the 1940's the salary was $700 with $20-$35/month being paid for room and board. In 1952, the salary was $1500. The school was renovated in the 1940s and closed in 1954 when students were bused to town school. The Millions School and Silverton School had many close ties, such as a common ball team and school dances. The school was a social center for church services, showers, whist drives, and concerts.
The school has been restored- look in the window and you can see a rural school scene with a teacher and all the furnishings. If you are interested in a school tour, please contact the cache owner who will supply you with the information to book a tour. More information on the Millions School can be found in the Carnduff history book "A Stake in the West".
The cache is a multicache- both stages are on the school grounds. The first stage is a micro (film cannister) and contains the co-ordinates for the final stage - a small cammoed container. The cache contains school and teacher related swag and pins.
