Qui transitava l’unica strada che durante il Medioevo collegava il Casentino con la Val di Sieve. La leggenda vuole che qui sia passato più volte S.Francesco e che abbia fatto scaturire con le sue preghiere la fonte ancora oggi esistente in N 43°48.234 E 11°34.490.
Non lontano c’è la chiesa della Madonna dei Fossi, eretta nel XVII sec, ma ricostruita nel 1924, ed ora da tempo abbandonata. Al suo posto nel medioevo c’era un’ospizio francescano nel quale secondo la leggenda fu ospitato S.Francesco. Il nome della chiesa è dovuto alla abbondanza di rigagnoli nella zona.
La cappellina a lui dedicata è stata da poco restaurata in occasione della tracciatura del “Sentiero della Memoria” (segni bianchi e rossi sigla “SM”) che ripercorre i luoghi della zona (Berceto, Pievecchia, Poderenovo) dove nel 1944 ci furono eccidi (uccisioni di civili) da parte dei nazi-fascisti. Questo tratto di sentiero collega la Consuma con Pomino (10 Km, 3 h). Se volete in 20 minuti potete scendere a Berceto: il sentiero in questo tratto percorre il tracciato della vecchia strada medievale.
La cache è un tupperware (17x11x5 cm) con un coperchio blu.
Potete parcheggiare in N 43°48.251 E 11°34.608.
L'accesso è da Pomino; gli ultimi 2 Km sono sterrati e sono percorribili con una normale auto (non troppo bassa), io la percorro con una familiare, MA CON UNA CERTA CAUTELA.
Se avete dei dubbi parcheggiate all’inizio della strada sterrata N 43°48.883 E 11°33.569.
Se volete fare una passeggiata fino a Cascina Albericisa (N 43°47.923 E 11°34.751) in Agosto e nei week-end estivi troverete una famiglia di miei amici che sanno della cache.
Potete anche fare una camminata ad anello, recentemente descritta e segnata.

Here, during the Middle Ages, it passed the only road which connected Casentino with the Val di Sieve. According to the legend S.Francesco passed this way several times and he made to gush out by his prayers a spring still existent N 43°48.234 E 11°34.490.
Nearby there is the church of Madonna dei Fossi (“Our Lady of ditches”) the name “ditches” hints to the presence of many streams in the area. It was put up in 17th century, was rebuilt in 1924 and now it is abandoned since many years. In the same place, during the Middle Ages, there was a Franciscan hostel which hosted S.Francesco.
The chapel dedicated to him has been just refurbished on the occasion of the tracing of the Memory Path (“Sentiero della Memoria), marked with red and white sign and initials “SM” which goes along again the places (Berceto, Pievecchia, Poderenovo) where in 1944 took place massacre of civilian by Nazi-Fascists. This is a part of the path which connects Consuma pass with Pomino (10 Km, 3 h). If you like it you can go down to Berceto (it takes 20 minutes walk) and this section follows the old Middle Ages road route.
The cache is a Tupperware (17x11x5 cm) with a blue lid.

The access is from Pomino; the last 2 Km are on a dirt road and they are practicable by a normal car but not too much low, I usually drive along it by a station wagon car, BUT WITH A BIT OF CAUTION.
If you have some doubts, park at the beginning of dirt road in N 43°48.883 E 11°33.569.
If you want you can also walk up to Cascina Albericisa (N 43°47.923 E 11°34.751) where during August and summer week-end, you will find friends of mine who know about the cache.
You can also do a nice walk on a circular route, recently described and marked.
