Geocache Description:


Here's another Colorful Canal Cache along the old DH Canal towpath. These caches highlight a location for a pleasant stroll or short bike ride along a paved path.

This cache originated in the spawn cache, Pretty in Pink (camo) by Arrow One, part of a wonderful set of caches I did with a friend this summer by biking and hiking around Double Trouble State Park in Ocean County, New Jersey. I had never seen camo anywhere like that on the mother cache, and well, this baby is the spittin' image of her mama back in NJ.

We don't have anything in the Tri-State area like Double Trouble SP, but it only seemed fitting that this cache would be placed along a bike trail, and an historic one at that. This one can be done on foot or bike, but either way you'll be travelling along the old tow path for the D&H Canal in Port Jervis, NY. Good luck finding this unusually camo'ed cache!

If you ever get down to the Ocean County area, be sure to bring along a bike and visit Double Trouble's great caches.

About the Port Jervis Branch of the Delaware and Hudson Canal Trail
The City of Port Jervis converted this one-mile stretch of the former D&H Canal into a greenway for use by residents and visitors. This section of the canal has been opened for hiking and biking; dogs are not permitted along the trail. Additional work is planned including more clearing of trees and debris in the canal. The restoration and creation of this greenway was made possible through the efforts of The Office of the Mayor in cooperation with the Department of Public Works, the Minisink Valley Historical Society, the National Park Service and the Delaware and Hudson Transportation Heritage Council.
