The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is located within Lord Stirling Park, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township. It is nestled within 425 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River.
The variety of habitats of floodplains, swamps, rivers, intermittent streams, marshes, meadows, and natural and man-made ponds, fields, and forests provide homes for diverse plant and animal populations in this environmentally sensitive park.
This cache was first placed as a demonstration cache in April for the EEC's Earth Day celebration, whereas NNJC set up a Geocaching-101 demonstration table. At that time, some dedicated cachers, ThEMaDRuSsIaN, rstefano52, Peconic Bay Sailors, were on hand to assist with the geocaching demonstration. Weathernowcast was also in the park visiting the EEC and found the cache.
This new cache container has been changed, but these cachers can log in their visit.
