Geocache Description:

Small decon in Sedillo, NM off Route 66; easy parking. If caching at night, beware of cactus and barb-wire nearby.

Sedillo is named for the Sedillo family. Pedro de Cedillo, a native of Queretaro, Mexico, is the first person with that name recorded in NM, arriving here before the Pueblo Revolt of 1680; he was a captiain in the Rio Abajo district, and his descendants returned to NM after 1692. Sedillo Canyon runs into the village from the south, while the long hill approaching from the west is called Sedillo Hill. (from "The Place names of New Mexico" by Robert Julyan, revised edition). If you have stories relating to Sedillo history, please post in log.
