Due to my advancing age, I (and my doctor) am concerned about the possibility of my experiencing a medical situation while on the road to Maintain one or more of my 120 GC Geocaches and 50 GCA Geocaches.
If you live near this Geocache, or regularly travel near it, you might be interested in Adopting this Geocache (or more of mine). Please let me (WanderingAus) know by Message at
Geocaching Message Center
if you are interested, including the cache code or codes
(e.g GC1XZ33 for this cache).
Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!
This cache has been placed near the waterhole in Ormiston Gorge to
encourage cachers to visit the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges,
and to give the local cachers something to hunt too.
The cache is a short walk from the carpark and across the creek
bed. Due to the vertical cliff face the cache is hidden in the
coords are not going to be very helpful.
To find the cache, take the waterhole walk, and when you get to the
FIRST life ring, which is near a set of steps leading to the creek
bed, do a GOTO to the cache.
If you look across the creek you should see another life ring. Your
GOTO should be aiming you 25 to 30 metres to the right of that life
ring. It seems that second life ring may have
been washed away, so the description of the white circles are of
even greater importance.
The cache is hidden in a cleft in the cliff face, concealed by a
small rock, well above the visible water mark, and a little above
waist high on me (I'm 173 cm or 5 ft 8 in).
I want you to find the cache so I have provided a spoiler. For
those without access to the spoiler, there are a number of white
circles about 25mm in diameter, to the right of the cache. Two of
these are one above the other, on separate rocks, and two more are
almost touching each other on the next rock to the right.
There are more white circles about 8 metres
further to the left, be sure to pick the correct (right hand) set
of circles. The cache is at the left hand end of the first
pair of rocks.
The cache is a green painted screw top a little larger than a
film canister, containing a stash note, log book, 2 pencils & a
sharpener.
