Geocache Description:

Congratulations to drgnhntrs for being the first to find.

The street is not very busy so drivers tend to speed through and will not be expecting to see parked cars. Try parking on the intersecting street west of the cache or in the slightly closer drive on the south side of the street. The hint is pretty explicit, read it only if you need to.

The quirky comedy Brewster McCloud was shot in Houston primarily to take advantage of the newly built Astrodome. But of course several other places were featured, one of which was the now demolished Astroworld amusement park.

Astroworld was the first and only large amusement park in Houston and was still new at the time of filming. To the thrill seekers of today, it would have seemed to be little more than a kiddie park, but to those of us in Houston at the time, it was a blast.

The Lost World Adventure was used in the film. This ride featured a river boat that carried passengers along the "Rio Misterio" deeper and deeper into the mysterious jungle. The sights along the river were highlighted by a mock serious commentary from the boats pilot. One memorable event along the ride was the boat heading straight for a waterfall while the pilot claimed not to be in control. Just at the last moment, the boat swerved, leaving the passengers dry. Just before the boat house came into view, the pilot would announce that we were entering the scariest part of the ride, the return to civilization. Sure its campy, but as young kids we just ate it up.

The cache you are looking for is hidden at the back of the property that used to hold the park. The area has been vacant and only used for parking but new activity has appeared recently. Is it to be just another parking lot?
