한산세모시는 모시 중에서도 최상품으로, 색이 희고 우아하며 섬세하고 가벼워 여름철 옷감 중 으뜸으로 친다. 백제시대부터 서천군 한산면에서 만들어 고려시대에는 명나라와의 교역상품으로 유명하였고, 조선시대에는 임금에게 바치는 진상품으로 명성을 떨쳤다는 기록이 있다.
이같은 서천군의 문화유산을 후손들에게 남기고자 한산모시를 처음 생산했던 건지산 기슭에 1993년 8월 14일 모시각, 전통공방, 전수교육관, 한산소곡주 제조장, 토속관 등의 시설을 갖춘 8만 5,000㎡ 규모의 전시관을 세워 전통문화 교육의 장으로 활용하고 있다.
그 중 전수교육관내 전시실에는 모시의 역사를 전해 주는 고증 서적과 베틀, 모시길쌈 도구, 모시 제품 등이 전시되어 있으며, 전통공방에서는 모시풀 재배에서 태모시 만들기, 모시째기, 모시삼기, 모시날기, 모시매기, 모시짜기 등의 공정을 재연한다. 또 250여 점의 향토문화자료가 전시되어 있어 조상들의 옛 생활상을 엿볼 수 있다. 관람시간은 오전 9시~오후 6시(겨울철 5시)이고 연중무휴이다
캐시는 우리조상의 솜씨와 전통이 살아숨쉬는 전시관 뒷편에 자리하고 있다.
커다란 나무와 주변건물이 캐시주변을 감싸고 있어서 위성오차 +-8m 이오니 캐싱때 참고 하시기 바란다.
