Regular cache just off a moderately tough jeep trail north of Alpine.
Beautiful views; killer road. If you take it on foot or on mountain bike, you’ll be in for a workout. Bring your first-aid kit. Possibly a defibrillator if you’re in as bad a shape as I am. If you go motorized, you’ll need 4-wheel-drive, big tires, and serious clearance. Don’t attempt it in a little wimpy “highway” jeep like mine! We had great designs upon a string of caches on this trail/road, all the way up to “Lower Rung,” if possible. What we didn’t realize was how rough the road was! We hit “As far as the Suzi Goes”, drove on for another ¼ mile, then decided we would walk up to “GR8 View of Lone Peak.” We got about ½ way there and decided this would be a great place to stash our first cache. We never did make up to GR8 View, though. We decided that neither we nor our jeep were tough enough to make it. That and the fact that we were already late for dinner. There’s never enough time to cache!
You are looking for a black cache container, rather unconventional (unless you’re a plumber). We figured that if you went through all of the effort to get up here, we should make finding the actual cache a little less difficult. It’s just a few feet off the left edge of the trail (as you are heading up), but we tried to hide it such a way and position that muggles and other infidels would not spot it—going up or down--if they weren’t looking for it. You may have to crouch and scramble or send in a small person after it. Please re-hide it well so it won’t be found by people with less-honorable intentions.
We tried to stock this well, again as a reward for making the trek up to this beautiful area and consistent with our own personal agenda to upgrade the cache swag of the world. Please trade fairly. It has a variety of stuff for kids (silly putty, plastic animals, a couple of hot wheels); for the older “kids” who bring them along (fishing lures, carabiner/compass combos, etc.); and for the First to Find (20 bucks in Iceberg Drive In gift certificates so you can get some onion rings and shakes when you come back down the hill. They are in with the logbook). The name of this cache--“M.C.H-ide” is in honor of our unofficial team caching name, The Mighty Cache-oo Hunters, or “M.C.H.” for short.
