Transportation via a boat is required to reach this island. This event was originally going to be a CITO event. But on our last trip to the island, a lot of cleaning has been done. But we should still bring some trash bags and tools and spend at least a little time to do some additional trash removal.
DUE TO BAD WEATHER, THE EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF SEPTEMBER 20, 2009.The new date is: Sunday, September 27, 2009 (Subject to change or cancellation due to bad weather.)
TIME: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Come on out and spend the afternoon on the Lake. Lets turn this island into a real Party Island. Bring along your portable chairs to sit back and share stories.
The event is currently scheduled for 1:00pm, subject to change. So please watch this cache listing as we will post a log entry when we add or change items on the page. There will be music, beach volleyball and other activities. You are more than welcome to bring any other games that can be played on the beach.
Please bring foods and beverages of your choice. We are planning on having a grill or two on the island. So bring your hamburgers and hot dogs and throw them over the hot coals.
ATTENTION CAPTAINS OF ALL VESSELS: Please drink responsibly as boating while intoxicated can get you into a heep of trouble. 
Music will be provided by talk2azs. We will be playing Rock, Classic Rock, and Country. So if you have a preference, please post it in your log entry and we will try to accommodate your music tastes.

$4.00 per vehicle (Parking or Boat Launch)
This facility has 3 boat launch ramps and a courtesy dock.
Portman Marina (GPS: N34 31.490 W082 48.258)
$4.50 vehicle parking
$8.00 vehicle parking with boat ramp usage.
This facility also has 3 boat ramps and provides a courtesy dock as well. Fuel and Ice is also available here dockside.
ADDED 9/6/2009
If any boat owners have room and enough live vests on board, and are willing to take non boat owners to this event, I am certain that those folks would greatly appreciate the ride over.
As it looks right now, I MAY have room enough for 2 or 3 passengers and a cooler. I will know for sure about three days before the event or maybe even sooner. Just as a note, I will be launching the boat at Portman Marina. Parking fee there is $4.50 per vehicle without boat. If you launch your boat there, the launch and parking fee is now $8.00

We are currently working on the possibility of having a restroom on the island. Another options is boating folks to and from the closest facility at Broyles Park.

Due bad weather, the Island Bash Event has been postponed to Sunday, September 27, 2009. We hope that all those who have planned to attend will still be able to join us.
