I have been looking for a place to set up a new pine hybrid
secret laboratory, to replace the one in Hanover, since there is no
more room in the Pine Swamp Area up on the South Shore. West
Barnstable Conservation Land is a vast expanse, and would offer
plenty of room.
However, the first thing I noticed is that a greater percentage
of the Cape trees have deformities and peculiar malformations,
compared to trees off-Cape. This presents the possibility
that mutant genes in the environment could affect the genetic
hybrids we are creating.
I departed in disappointment, but left a micro behind as a
marker.
