Gazen Salts Nature Reserve
Is a man-made nature reserve, within a 15-acre site. It offers around one and-a-half miles of footpaths, winding through a variety of habitats, including lakes, reedbeds and a meadow area. The central lake accommodates an attractive collection of wildfowl which may be fed making it a favourite with children.
The area provides a safe roost for many birds in winter, and is home to a small collection of pinioned wildfowl that are resident all year round. Please note that dogs are not allowed.
Paths are unpaved but its claimed that they are largely suitable for electric scooters: buggies should not be an issue unless its been wet. Entrance is free and there are no opening restrictions. Parking is available on the Sandwich to Canterbury road adjacent.
The car park here offers a convenient place to leave your car whilst finding the other Sandwich caches series.
You are looking for a cylindrical tube 4in x 1in. The cache is just outside of the reserve area. Your GPS signal might be a bit squiffy under the trees but the clue will help. This area is a popular place for parents to bring their children to feed the water fowl so please take extra care and expect muggles on a sunny day, especially weekends. At other times its generally deserted.
