Persephone's Pointe Traditional Cache

Easy cache located in Pointe du Bois. We BeaverLeavers love our dams!
Small camoed lock'n'lock. Contains FTF certificate, logbook, pencil and small trade items. We are launching travel bug Persnickety in this cache to start her world-wide tour of dams.
Nestled in the Canadian Shield, this cache is located approximately 160 km northeast of Winnipeg in the town of Point du Bois, Located on the Winnipeg River is the Pointe du Bois Generating Station. Built by Winnipeg Hydro, the construction started in 1909 and was completed in 1926 using horses and manpower only. It was acquired by Manitoba Hydro in 2002 and is the oldest power plant still in operation on the river.
After you find the cache, make sure you drive around this picturesque town. Stop at the Pam's General Store for an ice cream and enjoy a great look at the dam. Next drive to the town beach. This sandy beach is a perfect spot for a picnic and swim. You can safely hike across the flat rocks to see a majestic up river view of the dam.
It is worth the trip.
