Geocache Description:

There is parking on the shoulder and the road is moderately busy all the time. Should be a quick P & G.

Congratulations to Kaylees and Wayfinder for teaming up for the FTF honors. I'm sure wonderful parting gifts are in their future.

This cache is being posted on the anniversary of one of my favorite caching experiences. Rixrunt and I were in Wyoming searching for “Purple Cigar Cache”. It was “hidden in plain view” in the area of a quaint old bridge. On our first search, the co-ords put us in the middle of the bridge. A twisting creek flowed beneath. It was never wider than three feet but moving swiftly. After we were satisfied that the cache was not on the bridge, we knew it must be under it. The sides of the bank were too steep for non-geocaching shoes Rixrunt was wearing. She stood at the edge ,cheering me on as I carefully stepped through the reeds avoiding small muddy areas looking upwards all the time for the purple cigar. My foot came down on a very soft spot of nearly liquid mud and I began to sink. As I sank, as if in slow motion in the quagmire, Rixrunt stood 15 feet above me, high and dry, dissolving in laughter at my predicament. That’s what caching is all about. Two days later I returned and walked straight to the crevice on the bridge structure where you could see a faint line of purple. Don’t get wet searching for my “Purple Cigar”
The replacement cache is a "Purple Cigar Imposter". True it is purple but not by birth. Try to be careful not to scrape off the "make-up" and replace it carefully.
