Just off the road on the way to Lava Cast Forest
Part of Newberry National Volcanic Monument, the nearby Lava Cast Forest is an area where hot lava erupted from the northwest flank of Newberry Volcano - engulfing a forest more than 7,000 years ago. The landscape now includes lava "casts" of the trees. It's worth a visit if you've never been to this geological wonder.
