This cache is part of a series called A Day in the Hills.
This series involves a fair amount of hiking. If you complete the
entire series you will hike on many of the trails out of the Spruce
Coulee Reservoir Campground which is a tent only campground, full
facility camping is available in Elkwater. No bushwhacking is
required.
The caches in this series include the Streamside geocache, the Cypress Hills Massif Earthcache the Reesor Lake Trail geocache, the Wild Raspberry geocache and Treeduck..

The park has always worked closely with the local ranching
communities to ensure their continued access to pasture and
rangleland that they have traditionally enjoyed. This can be of
benefit as cattle open up new trails that are usable by geocachers!
This cache is just a few feet from a very good cow trail and no
bushwhacking is required. If the cow trail disappears like it did
in the now archived Spruce Coulee geocache I will archive this hide
but for now it is being incorporated into "A Day in the Hills".
This hide adds another .50 cal ammo can between Spruce Coulee and
the Reesor Lake Campsite, a trip of 8.8km's one way. This cache can
be first or last on the trail. This cache stands alone as a nice
hike on this interesting and beautiful section of the Trans Canada
Trail.
This .50 cal ammo can sports the latest digital camo. In
addition the hide on this cache is a true work of art, Mitch (byte)
really made a cool cache and I am so glad I get to hide the results
of his work (even though it took a couple of years to happen). This
cache is easy to find but thanks to great camo should be safe from
casual observation, thanks for a great cache byte, it really works
well in this terrain.
If you start at the Reesor Lake trailhead this cache is right
near the top of the hill or it is just a few K's from the lookout
on mostly flat terrain. If you approach from above please stay
on the trail, please do not slide down the steep hill, continue
downhill on the main trail a few hundred feet to the old road that
the cows are now using to access this small beautiful meadow
location.
This cache is park friendly so no
bushwhacking is required and no vegetation needs to be disturbed to
find the cache, you may disturb a cow on some days but that is
OK!
Please rehide the cache in the same spot, the next seeker is
depending upon that to complete their search successfully. Please
write about your visit on www.geocaching.com.
