Geocache Description:

(Warning: Although the cache itself is 100% family friendly, the ongoing stories associated with them may not be suitable for youngsters. If caching with kids, feel free to take them along and spare them the story.)

It’s been 5 weeks since the first infection.

I don’t know if anyone is even accessing these logs. Most of the electricity is shot and I don’t know if you other survivors are having as good luck finding batteries and generators as we are. I guess the engineering degree is coming in handy. Fellow survivors, things have gotten much worse. Our hideout in the Seafood place has been compromised. The fellow couple that was with Sarah and I were out scavenging for food and clean water while we held down the fort. They were nowhere in sight, but as we peered through dirt smudged windows we saw a few infected stop in their tracks and perk up. It was the strangest thing. No sound or action had seemed to cause this. A few minutes later our companions were running towards Old Town Seafood. Following them was a massive horde of infected. They have truly transformed into something horrid. A general resemblance to a human remains, but they are ravaged husks of the people they once were. The walking dead. There was nothing we could do to save our companions. It was horrible. Something that will haunt me for the rest of my life (which seems shorter every day.)

The next morning Sarah and I went out on our daily patrol. It wasn’t safe for one of us to stay behind to guard the hideout, and I wasn’t about to let her go off on her own. Then the unthinkable happened. We were searching a thin alley in Old Town when I spotted an infected. He noticed us immediately. I forced Sarah to run further down the alley while I ran off to the side to distract it. The chase must have only lasted a minute, but felt like an eternity. I’ve underestimated the force that drives these creatures. They have an unending stamina and the sole focus of destroying you. I finally found another alley to dodge down and slammed a wrought iron gate behind me, trapping the creature on the other side. I hid in the alley until the infected left. When I returned to find Sarah, she was gone. Nowhere to be found. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs to find her, but knew anything louder than a whisper would be a death knell. Please. If there are any survivors out there still reading these. I’ve hidden a cache in the last place I was with my wife. The coordinates may be a little off because of the buildings around. The log isn’t big enough to write much, just your name. Just to prove you looked for her. If you see her let her know that I’ve taken shelter down by the waterfront. Fellow survivors, I hope your attempts to live are easier than mine.

-A.H.

P.S. - There is nearby parking on main roads, but don't attempt to park in the alley.

{Congrats to wetfit for his FTF}
{But more importantly, congrats to akpatty for her FT(Participate)!}
