Geocache Description:

An ammo container located in the Byron Herbert Reece loop and hiking trail. This location is very close to the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain and Blood Mountain. Should be a pretty easy find with plenty of parking. We thought the nice over Blood Mountain on US 129 needed a quick and easy ammo box for coins and travelbugs to be dropped and traded. Enjoy this wonderful and very scenic hiking trail.

A nice place to drop off Geocoins and Travel Bugs in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. This is a mini ammo box with plenty of room for goodies. If you have a camera with you during the hunt and want to submit a picture of your caching team on the boulders that are near the cache that would be great. My two sons thought it would be cool to see the different people that pass through this area. Happy Caching!!! My boys left some swag to get things started and we will be dropping off some travel bugs and coins soon. This is one of my families favorite spots on our way to visit family in Blairsville.
This cache is in memory of one of Georgia's greatest poet's, Byron Herbert Reece. He spent most of his life on a farm close to this cache in the North Georgia mountains. The Reach of Song was a play put on in the late 90's at the Georgia Mountain Fair. Our family would attend the play which told the story of Byron Herbert Reece. Small note: As required by the USFS for caches hidden in the Chattahoochee National Forest the cache is prominently labeled as a geocache and the label includes the GC1YAHW waypoint number and the owner's e-mail address. Enjoy!
